Shelley A. Johns, PsyD

In December 2017, Shelley A. Johns, PsyD, clinical health psychologist in Eskenazi Health’s Palliative Care program, received a Grateful Patient award.

The patient who nominated Dr. Johns wrote a letter to accompany the gift. Here is an excerpt from that letter:

Shelley’s counseling is time and labor intensive, but she is skilled at making patients feel they are her one and only priority. She has helped me cope with my fear of cancer recurrence, something that I never anticipated facing yet it’s been a significant part of my personal cancer journey. Shelley helped me understand that it is a normal but clinical diagnosis, and gave me the tools and support to explore and acknowledge those fears. She has given me a wonderful gift and I sincerely thank her for that.
