Palliative Care, Acuity Adaptable and Spiritual Care
In May 2016, Eskenazi Health’s Palliative Care, Acuity Adaptable and Spiritual Care departments received Grateful Patient awards. The patient wrote:
The Grateful Patient program allowed me to give a gift in loving memory of my mother, who passed away in February in your hospital.
She was a patient in Acuity Adaptable on the 8th floor, where she received exceptional and sensitive care from members of your medical and palliative care staff.
The nurses who worked nights and days were especially caring and helpful to my mom. My wife and I stayed at the hospital for two days and nights prior to her passing and received commendable attention to any of our needs and counseling about my mom’s condition.
The Spiritual Care Team was also very supportive in helping us to adjust to the knowledge that we were spending our last hours with Mom.
